چکیده

The appear:ince of the Earth as seen from space changes continually. These chniigcs it1 bright, iiess and in color are produced by interactioris between (1) geographical factors, such as coasts and mouiitaiiis; (2) scasonal factors, such as t,he brightness c,ii:tnges due t o the deposition and disappearance of siioa’; and (3) mcteorological effects such as the cloud pattcriis indicative of the formation, development, and moveinelit of tropical aiid extratropical disturbances. For example, t o :I satellite, clouds appear as high-energy sources in reflected short-maw, solar eiicrgy, but as cold, lox-energy sources in emitted radiation. A high resolution picturc recovered from the Mercury project is also included. The region of the spectrutii in which the Earth is viewed infiueiices it,s appearance. All these effects are illustrated with pictures and measureinciits from TIROS satellites.

Scheduling a constellation of agile earth observation satellites with preemption

In this paper, we consider a scheduling problem for a set of agile Earth observation satellites for scanning  different parts of the Earth’s surface. We assume that preemption is allowed to prevent repetitive images and develop four different preemption policies. Scheduling is done for the imaging time window and transmission time domain to the Earth stations as well. The value of each picture ...

Dynamic Modeling for Earth – Pointing Satellites to Control the Three – axis Attitude without the Attitude Information of One Axis

Various methods are presented to control the attitude of satellite due to lack of information of yaw axis attitude so far. In this paper, a new method is used which is more general and is applicable to all types of satellites, with at least one controller. This method is not limited to YAW axis and can control the two other axes as well. One feature of this approach is the ability to be modi...

Evaluation of Geometric and Atmospheric Doppler for GNSS-RO Payloads

To reduce the sampling rate in global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-radio occultation receivers, it is essential to establish a suitable estimation of Doppler frequency from the received signal in the satellite onboard receiver. This receiver is usually located on low earth orbit satellite and receives GNSS satellites signal in the occultation situation. The occurred Doppler on the signal ...

Orbital Perturbation Effect on LEO Satellite Trajectory

A satellite, in its orbit, is affected by perturbing forces, such as atmospheric drag, solar radiation pressure, Earth oblateness, and gravity of the celestial masses (other than the Earth). In this paper, the effects of these forces on the trajectories of different types of LEO satellites and a sample satellite (Z-SAT) are discussed. A few analyses are done on these orbits and the relevant res...
